(More customer reviews)This watch looks good and is easy to set up.The use of lcd's as a second hand is very clever.The drawback with this is that they are very hard to read even in bright light.I would recommend that the maker change the color of the lcd's for the second hand or use another medium to make them readable.

Overall, for the price, this watch has functions and looks that make it a good buy.

The watch is super, when going thru the digital features, i.e; temp, alarm, world time and other features, the analog dials reflected the current time always, this is the greatest feature I like. The watch, band and all of the features under the glass has the look. The watch reflects it is resistance to 100 meters, will find out this summer, but it worked great while out in the rain. Setup features were easy for me once you get the hang of it, it took a few trys to set up the world time, and when Daylight Savings time kicked in, it worked, including changing from 2006 to 2007.Again - Hats off to Casio, another great time piece.

(More customer reviews)So I don't understand the other reviewers complaints about it not working when the sun sets. Why would CASIO make a watch that did that?? That would be an extremely lame thing to manufacture.

All you had to do was read the instruction manual, it states that the watch must be charged for 3-6 hours (where 3 hours is outdoor sunlight, and 6 hours is under office lighting).

There is a little icon on the screen that looks like a little sun; when that goes out the watch is fully charged.

On a full charge, the 2505 model will last 14 days without needing a charge again from its solar panel! The other model (not the 2505 version) will last 4 days on a single charge.

Okay so the watch does not have a backlight, but so what. It still provides an alarm and hourly chime features.

It also has that cool 80's retro look, yet has 21st century technology utilizing supercapacitors instead of batteries. Truly a watch you can say is powered by the sun and not using up our resources to power itself.

I am surprised the green movement has not seized up this really cool technology.
Way to go CASIO for another home run of a watch - love your products ever since the 80s!

I bought this watch a little less than a month ago and was shocked and awed by the amount of attention I received over it. Before I bought the CASIO CA53W-1 Watch with Calculator I was a nothing, I was no one, no one on my campus recognized me. All of the people I knew were stupid gaming retards, all they cared about was Modern Warfare 2 coming out soon. They were like "Sean come play Modern Warfare with us, it totally is the best game ever. Play Modern Warfare to tune your skills for Modern Warfare 2." and I told them to get some lotion and go into the bathroom because I wasn't playing any more video games, I was becoming a man. The first thing I did was to sell my xbox 360 and all its accessories on craigslist for $150 (I had a lot of stuff), the reason being was that I had an epiphany when they told me to play Modern Warfare with them. The epiphany is: there will always be new video games coming out, most of them aren't worth your time. Anyways so I sold my xbox, and then I got a haircut. Well I got many hairs cut and ended up getting a fashionable haircut like that of Edward Cullen on Twilight. I figure all the girls love him right? They all want to take him into the bathroom without lotion or Maxim, if I look like him, I will get all the babes. I also got a Bowflex PR3000 Home Gym, now I work out 3 times a week and I am totally ripped (well at least I'm ripping). I then purchased this CASIO CA53W-1 Watch with Calculator, the first girl that talked to me about it was Janet, from my circuit analysis class. She told me that she liked my watch, that maybe we should hang out sometime. Janet had always been my dream girl, smart, funny, engineering major, mildly overweight (but in a good way), and she loved CASIO watches. I mean who doesn't right? Well I decided that the first girl that talked to me about my watch was going to be the one. I left circuit analysis class walking next to Janet, my ex-friend Jake from Modern Warfare came up to me and asked if I wanted to play in 20 minutes. I asked him what 7251 times 8 was, he couldn't tell me. I flashed him my CASIO CA53W-1 Watch with Calculator and told him to go into the bathroom with some lotion and a copy of Maxim, he knew immediately that he would never talk to me again. I cannot more highly recommend this watch to anyone, it is comfortable, has a watch, calculator, alarm clock, and most importantly for Janet and I it has a stopwatch.

(More customer reviews)Unlike most digital watches, this one elevates form over function.First of all, it has an analog face, and that analog face is simple, uncluttered and classy.Secondly, it's slimmer than many of Casio's other analog face watches.And, like most Casios, it's water resistant.When I got it, I thought, "Great!A nice looking watch under $50 that I can wear to the beach."Unfortunately, on its maiden outing to the swimming pool, suntan lotion got on the crystal and left it all smeared up.My local watchsmith says there's no way to clean it or replace the crystal.Also, like most Casios, if you bend your wrist just so, your hand will mash one of the function buttons and you'll be displaying the stopwatch function instead of the date (or vice versa).It doesn't have a countdown/timer feature.The analog and digital times must be set separately, and there's no feature to sync them up automatically.Bottom line:I'd buy it again based on looks and price, but don't expect it to be all things to all people.

(More customer reviews)I got this watch last week and it's been great so far.I've been using Timex Ironman watches forever and this is slightly bigger but not at all bulky.The barometer has been spot on since I calibrated it.The altimeter worked great on a hill run that I did yesterday.Compass was off by 6 deg, but for a watch that isn't too bad.Thermometer is affected by your body temp so that's probably the most inaccurate sensor.The atomic timekeeping is probably the best thing about the watch.

The negatives are that the alarm isn't that loud and the countdown timer doesn't have a repeat setting, you have to start it over yourself.Overall though great watch, I would buy it again.

Barometer, Altimeter, and Thermometer Readings
With the Pathfinder's barometer, you can predict changing weather patterns as they occur around you. The barometer takes readings every two hours and stores them automatically, graphically displaying the barometric pressure from the past 26 hours. The display ranges from 260 to 1,100 hPa (7.65 to 32.45 inHg) with changeovers from hPa to inHg.
The watch's altimeter can help you gauge the time you'll need to reach the summit. The altimeter checks and displays the altitude every two minutes and stores readings with the temperature every 15 minutes. The graphing function positions you with respect to your target altitude, while an alarm alerts you as you approach your mark. You can record up to 40 sets of data with each record, displaying the month, date, and time. The altimeter's measuring range is from -700 to 10,000 meters (-2,300 to 32,800 feet).
The Pathfinder also features a built-in thermometer that displays and checks the temperature every five minutes. The display can be converted from Celsius to Fahrenheit and measures temperatures from -10 to 60 degrees C (14 to 140 degrees F). So whether you're hiking through the Grand Canyon or snowshoeing in the Rockies, the Pathfinder has you covered.

The new one looks sharper and has more features, though it is a bit thicker. I really like that the hands glow in the dark, and have found even several hours later I can still read the time in the dark. Instructions were a bit hard to read in the enclosed booklet so I downloaded a 3 page PDF summary from the Casio home page. Quite like that I can see the time and the day / date of week at a glance and then switch and change to see a different time zone that I am currently visiting.
